First Week in Australia = Success

Greeting from Australia!

I was just finishing up a blog when I suddenly lost it. I am not very happy about that.  :( With that sad, this is going to be a short one. The weather here is really hot, being about 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The people here are very friendly. I had my first class today. Although it is different, I think I will be able to adjust pretty easily. I start working next weekend at a Australian souvenir shop. Oh the irony! I am having fun and staying healthy.  :) Feel free to look at my facebook page for more pictures.

The Anticipation is Well Worth it!

Friends and family members:

I want to let you all know that I am here in Fremantle, Western Australia safely. We also call this place Freo for short. I arrived in Freo two days ago, and was allowed to move into the P & O Hotel yesterday morning. The first night I stayed in a pretty dingy and sketchy hostel. I met some very interesting people at the hostel, including a 24 year old Italian girl who has literally been everywhere in the world. Quite a fascinating individual. All in all, I was very happy to get out of the hostile. Now I am living in the lap of luxury.
The weather is beautiful, being about 35 degrees celsius (100 degrees F). Although it is very hot and sticky, I can tolerate the weather. We went to the beach twice yesterday. We did a little shopping and went to a pub last night called The Orient. This pub is literally connected to our hotel. Great music and great fun. We have been hanging out with a lot of different Aussies.
That is all for now. Feel free to look at the pictures on Facebook.

Anticipation for Australia!

Dear Bloggers!
As you may know, this is my first Australian blog. I am hoping for many more to come. Today is Tuesday February 8th 2011. In exactly ten days, I will be flying to Australia. I am really looking forward to this wonderful and life-changing experience. Without a doubt, my eyes will be opened to a tremendously different culture than my own.
Although I am truly happy to be going to Australia, I am also feeling some bittersweet emotions. Quite frankly, I am leaving behind many people that I love and cherish very much. I am not going to lie, the past couple of weeks have been pretty tough saying goodbye to various friends and family members. I had a very uncomfortable feeling in my gut saying goodbye to some friends and family members. I had no idea it was going to be this hard. I am not looking forward to my time at the MSP airport seeing my parents cry. They are happy for me to have this opportunity, but they are sad they are sending off their "baby" for five months. I hope we all manage well.
While I am gone, I am hoping to blog pretty regularly. I hope to add pictures and insights for all to see. Please feel free to comment on any of my blogs. I will be studying abroad at the University of Notre Dame Australia. I will be taking five courses there, all counting towards my four year academic plan at St. John's University. UNDA is in Fremantle, Western Australia, outside of Perth. Please keep me, my group, friends, and family members in your prayers.
